Nazook (Gata)


1 ½ cups all-purpose flour

1 ½ sticks unsalted butter

1 ½ cups granulated sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

½ tsp salt

Puff pastry

Wisk together the flour and salt in a small bowl, add the butter, toss to coat in the flour, using your fingertips pinch the butter pieces until you reach the consistency of small peas or coarse sand, add in the sugar and whisk to combine.

Roll out the pastry dough, spread the filling (don’t overfill), roll the dough like flat sandwich, cut in pieces and place on baking tray with parchment paper, brush with egg yolks only, and bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes.
